Tenses in English Grammar

 Let's look at the rules for tenses in English grammar with examples. 
Exercises :- 

·     Simple present tense

1.    Children are sometimes scolded by the parents. (Scold)

2.    I always take tea in the morning. (Take)

3.    Rahul is invited to the party many times. (Invite)

4.    Water is produced by hydrogen and oxygen. (Produce)

5.    Here comes the hero ! (come)

6.    There he goes ! (go)

7.    I shall wait here till you finish your work. (finish)

8.    If he comes here, I will help him. (come)

9.    Unless you are requested by me, you will not help me. (request)

10.The news paper says that there was heavy rain in Junagadh yesterday. (say)

·     Simple past tense

1.    The team was guided by the coach yesterday. (guide)

2.    The books were sold here yesterday. (sell)

3.    I visited the taj a month ago. (visit)

·     Simple future tense

1.    I shall be awarded for my victory in future. (award)

2.    We shall check the matter tomorrow. (check)

3.    Rajkot will be cleaned tomorrow. (clean)

4.    The guests will arrive the next day. (arrive)

5.    I think this boy will be a great man. (be)

6.    We hope you will bring enough food for all. (bring)

7.    I suppose he will do better next time. (do)

·     Continuous Present Tense

1.    The school building is being constructed now-a-days. (construct)

2.    The tiger is being trapped by the hunters at this moment. (trap)

3.    The students are decorating the room now. (decorate)

·     Continuous Past Tense

1.    These boys were being taught English in the class then. (teach)

2.    I was being guided by my teacher in the morning yesterday. (guide)

3.    The students were reading poems at that moment. (read)

4.    When I saw him, he was watching TV. (watch)

5.    When I saw him, a story was being read by him. (read)

6.    Rahul was being taught English by his teacher when I reached there. (teach)

7.    We crossed the bridge while the train was being repaired. (repair)

8.    Rahul saw me while I was being examined by the doctor. (examine)

9.    They came here while I was talking on the phone. (talk)

·     Continuous Future Tense

1.    Ram will be doing his work in the morning tomorrow. (do)

2.    These people will be taking tea tomorrow morning. (take)

3.    The doctor will be checking the patients tomorrow evening. (check)

·     Perfect Present Tense

1.    I have never seen your brother. (see)

2.    They have been here since 1999. (be)

3.    The radio has just been repaired. (repair)

4.    The boys have already been permitted to go home by him. (permit)

·     Perfect Past Tense

1.    The train had left the station before we reached. (leave)

2.    The police arrived after we had punished the thief. (punish)

3.    The note books had been examined before the teacher came. (examine)

4.    Rahul went home after his mother had been carried to the hospital by his father. (carry)

5.    When I reached there, he had completed his work. (complete)

6.    When we reached the bus station, the bus had left. (leave)

7.    When I opened the door, Rahul had escaped. (escape)

8.    I told him that he had passed in the exam. (pass)

9.    He knew that his brother had been arrested by the police. (arrest)

10.Rahul thought that his car had been repaired. (repair)

11.He asked me if I had met his mother. (meet)
