Direct and Indirect Speech

Exercises :- 

  Direct speech

  1. Ø Ram said to Sita, “ I am reading your poem now.”
  2. Ø Meena said to me, “you were running fast yesterday.”
  3. Ø Rahul said to ketan, “ I like your work.”
  4. Ø I said to her, “ you spoke very well last Sunday.”
  5. Ø Raman said to reena, “ I have done my work today.”
  6. Ø I said to you, “ I shall help you tomorrow.”
  7. Ø Meena said to me, “ you will go there.”
  8. Ø He said to me, “ I can help you.”
  9. Ø She said to me, “ I may go there.”
  10. Ø My teacher said, “ truth is god.”
  11. Ø I said to him, “ I could run fast.”
  12. Ø He said to me,” when I was in school, I enjoyed bunking maths class.”
  13. Ø He said to me, “ no sooner did he arrive than I informed you.”
  14. Ø He said to me, “when I saw him, he was reading a story yesterday.”
  15. Ø Ram said to me, “if he were my friend, I would have helped him.”
  16. Ø Anil said to Mukesh, “I wish we were friends.”
  17. Ø He said to me, “she walked as if/as though she were a heroine.”
  18. Ø I said, “I had better play long.”
  19. Ø I said to them, “I will rather go home.”
  20. Ø He said to me today morning, “I will help you tomorrow.”

 Indirect speech

  1. Ø Ram told sita that he was reading her poem then.
  2. Ø Meena told me that I had been running fast the previous day.
  3. Ø Rahul told ketan that he liked his work.
  4. Ø I told her that she had spoken very well the previous Sunday.
  5. Ø Raman told reena that he had done his work that day.
  6. Ø I told you that I would help you next day.
  7. Ø Meena told me that I would go there.
  8. Ø He told me that he could help me.
  9. Ø She told me that she might go there.
  10. Ø My teacher said that truth is God.
  11. Ø I told him that I could run fast.
  12. Ø He informed me that when he was in school, he enjoyed bunking maths class.
  13. Ø He told me that no sooner did he arrive than he informed me.
  14. Ø He told me that when he saw him, he was reading a story yesterday.
  15. Ø Ram told me that if he were his friend, he would have helped him.
  16. Ø Anil told Mukesh that he wished they were friends.
  17. Ø He told me that she had walked as if/as though she were a heroine.
  18. Ø I said that I had better play long.
  19. Ø I told them that I would rather go home.
  20. Ø He told me today morning that he will help me tomorrow.
